ASF NEPAL STANDS WITH THE COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE DEVASTATING FLOODS

Published September 3, 2026

Architectures Sans Frontières Nepal (ASF Nepal) expresses its deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and stands in solidarity with all communities affected by the devastating floods that struck Nepal on 26 August 2026.

The disaster along the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river corridor has caused enormous human suffering and widespread destruction of homes, settlements, roads, bridges, infrastructure and livelihoods.

At this difficult time, our immediate thoughts are with the affected families, the injured, the displaced, and those still waiting for news of their loved ones. We also express our profound respect and gratitude to the security personnel, rescue teams, health workers, volunteers, local communities and organisations working tirelessly on the ground.

For ASF Nepal, the challenge ahead goes beyond immediate relief.

The next critical step will be helping affected communities recover, rebuild and become more resilient to future disasters.

As architects, engineers, planners and built-environment professionals, we believe reconstruction must prioritise:

🏠 Safe and resilient shelter
🤝 Community-led recovery
🛠️ Technical support for reconstruction
🌿 Sustainable and context-sensitive rebuilding
⚠️ Disaster risk reduction and preparedness
🏘️ Building Back Better and Safer

ASF Nepal remains committed to contributing its professional knowledge, technical expertise and experience to support affected communities and Nepal’s long-term recovery efforts.

We must not simply rebuild what was lost.
We must rebuild safer, stronger and more resilient communities.

Together, with compassion, collaboration and responsible action, Nepal will recover and rebuild.

🇳🇵 ASF Nepal stands with Nepal.
ASF Nepal stands with the affected communities.
